TSN/A Conference 2018
Technology & Applications
September 26-27, 2018 | Stuttgart, Germany
We would like to thank all attendees, speakers, sponsors and our co-operation partner Avnu for a great TSN/A Conference 2017 and look forward to a reunion in 2018!
Is the realtime TSN Ethernet variant the future communication standard for Industry 4.0 manufacturing, the automobile of the future perhaps, and tomorrow's consumer world? That was a question the more than 400 participants intended to bottom out at the TSN/A Conference on September 20 - 21 in Stuttgart, Germany.
"The pyramid model has done us good service in automation now for many years — but it's time to move on", says Wolfgang Schenk, managing director of Hirschmann, in his keynote to open the international TSN/A Conference, adding, "In automation we now need essentially more flexible models and standards of communication."
On the second day of the conference, Stefan Schoenegger, manager of the Open Automation business unit of B&R, takes up Schenk's words, and adds another keynote to the discussion. In his opinion, combination of TSN and OPC UA in particular is set to change the structures of industrial automation.
TSN takes on a special level of attractiveness because the realtime Ethernet technology is making its way not only in automation but on a broad front. Dr. Kirsten Matheus of BMW in her keynote pointed to the fact that "12 of the 16 biggest automobile producers have concrete plans to integrate TSN technology in their vehicles".
Extra to the overview nature of the keynotes, the agenda of the remaining papers got straight down to the basics.
The TSN/A Conference was staged on September 20 - 21 for the first time in this form. It is the continuation of the German Industrial Ethernet TSN Congress of WEKA Fachmedien and the international TSNA Congress of the AVNU Alliance, focusing in particular on TSN aspects of industrial automation, the automobile industry and the consumer world.
The next TSN/A Conference is set for September 26 - 27, 2018 again in Stuttgart, Germany.
